MONDAY WEATHER BRIEFING
(click images to enlarge)Good morning! What a week this will be! Temperatures WAY above average for early November and plenty of sunshine through Thursday.Highs today:We have a good shot at 70 tomorrow through Thursday. How unusual are 70s in November, you ask? Pretty unusual! Since 1930, just 3.4% of November days featured a high of 70 or above in Youngstown. We have not had a 70+ day in November since 2009! This in interesting since 2009-2010 was a winter that featured a moderate El Nino.
Why so mild? The jet stream has buckled, with a big trough out west and a big ridge popping up in the East.
With this year's strong El Nino, we can expect patterns like this to happen with more frequency this winter. Remember our Winter Forecast is a mild one. Also mild: Our November forecast.
The warm weather will get pushed away by a cold font at the end of the week and we expect a windy, showery day Friday. Might even be some thunder.
LONG RANGE: After a cooler weekend, temperatures should spring back up to near or above average levels early next week. I suspect the numbers on this model on days 10-16 are probably too cool.
